Eligibility

If you have at least 90 days of aggregate active duty service after Sept. 10, 2001, and are still on active duty, or if you are an honorably discharged veteran or were discharged with a service-connected disability after 30 days, you may be eligible for this VA-administered program. This bill can also be transferred to dependents as it is reported on DEERS.

Transfer Benefits

The Post-9/11 GI Bill provides up to 36 months of education benefits. The educational benefits include tuition and course fees at a percentage rate. To find your percentage rate towards tuition please visit GI Bill® website.

The University of Alabama is an unlimited Yellow Ribbon school, meaning that all students that qualify for Yellow Ribbon under the Post 9/11 GI Bill® will have all out of state tuition and course fees covered. Yellow Ribbon status is indicated on your Certificate of Eligibility. In addition students under the Post 9/11 GI Bill® will receive:

  • Monthly housing allowance
  • Annual books and supplies stipend
